Coming back to Hualien for a visit and a race was like the best treat ever! Jennie and I both took Friday off and got the early train right before 8 heading for Hualien.
We arrived Hualien just before noon, checked in at Sushi's B&B (Thanks for the excellent room and the pickup at the station, Sushi!) , and headed out to get our hot pot lunch straight away.
Jennie needed a tube and Coach Luo's bike shop was right in the neighborhood so we had to go there to pay him a visit. I couldn't believe Billy, my spinning instructor was there and Coach Luo was actually in. How nice!
After the bike shop, we started our tour around Hualien. How could I possibly wait? I had been dying to ride in Hualien.
A-Fu came by to join us and toured around with us after his work. It was just so nice seeing and riding with him! We stopped at my old school to say hello. I was very lucky that my oldest students Bill and Eileen were there. A-Yi and Vera were also there. It was just wonderful running into them all.
Dinner was reserved for us by Jada. Too bad Jada couldn't come to have dinner with us. Jerry, Dts, A-Jian, A-Fu, XiaoJian, and XiaoBing all came by to dine with us at the Thai/Cambodian restaurant with us. We all went for some shaved ice afterward. It was truly amazing and fun seeing all my old pals. I felt the whole trip was so well worth-it already.
By the time we got back to our B&B, we were exhausted. I got a chance to take a few photos with Sushi's girls, Amanda and Ashley before I washed up. Too happy to fall asleep at which point, I watched some movies before I went to bed at close to 1 a.m. I guess I would be lucky to just complete the race tomorrow but I really couldn't care less.
