Placed #5 and time this year was 2:03:33.82. Placed #8 and time last year was 2:06:42.01. A bit more than 3 minutes improvement this year; unfortunately was all on flat, I believe.

Thanks BoFang/伯芳's husband A-Fu/ㄚ福 for a lot of wonderful pictures on the day of the race. (From left: Tino, me, Malamei, BoFang, and ?)

I made the bike fall with my carelessness and Tino was checking it once again to make sure it wasn't going to give me trouble during the race. Sweetheart he is!

The kids stayed at Sabrina's so it was like a date for just the two of us. Thanks Sabrina for taking the boys!

17 years of marriage with this most sweet, thoughtful, loving, and caring husband in the whole wide world- Am I a lucky girl or what?

My group was the first on the schedule to take off at 7:50 am. We had all the ladies, the mountain bikes, and the athlete division with us in the group. Tino's took off at 8:10. I knew he would catch up to me somewhere during the climb. Oh well... it was just the way I climb- SLOW!

Tino during the race. Anytime now, sweetie, I was just a little ahead of you even though you were not chasing me, Tino. Go, sweetie, go!

I stayed with the leading group with all the super elite guys for 23.34 kms before I was dropped. I knew BoFang would pass me somewhere on the climb so I had to hustle on the remaining flat to buy myself some time.

I wanted to take it easy on the climbs especially after our division champion, Li BoFang passed me. And then Revital passed me, too. I could clearly see that they are stronger climbers than me. Silly me lost track of all the numbers in my division. I thought just taking it easy could ensure a #3 finish but I was wrong, of course. What on earth was I doing during the climb was beyond me.

I was thinking just about everything during the climb- "Why would I want to come all this way for a climbing practice?" "What am I going to do for my WuLing climb of 62 kms from the east end of the Central Cross Island Hwy. next weekend?" "Where is Tino? Why hasn't he passed me yet?" "What can I do to be a better climber?" "10 more kilometers to go? (When I saw the 10k marker.)" That's right! Not until I saw the 10k marker did I realize the race was 3k further than TUAA claimed. Darn! How could I forget about it from last year?

Tino rolled back down at the 100 meter marker after he finished so he could cheer me on.

As we were waiting at the award ceremony. Tino rolled 18k down to our B&B to wash up, pack, and drive back up to get me. He didn't think he did well enough for a podium finish but he placed 6. Good job, sweetie!

(From left: Kitty, me, Malamei, Chen PeiLing, LiBoFang, ?, and Revital) We had to find some fun while the race organizer figuring out the results.

No clue where #6, 7, and 8 went. I didn't really feel all that honored placing 5 if anyone cared. A little disappointing I didn't shave more time.

BoFang invited us to have lunch with everyone but we figured we should probably head on home to see the kids. Next time, BoFang! Maybe when I could climb as well as you can?
